Current engagement with ACFE
Discussion Forums December 4th, 2006In what ways have you been engaging with a Curriculum for Excellence within your own establishment or classroom?
Some examples might include professional reading and keeping up to date with ACfE progress, engaging teachers, children, parents with the 4 capacities and principles for curriculum design, sharing good practice within your school, or use of formative assessment etc.

Hi Elaine, this looks good. I agree with your team’s comments on the Teachers for Excellence thread on the LTS forum and I’m glad to see you’ve had an opportunity to promote ‘Joyning the Learning’. It would maybe be useful to see an example of how this works in practice, somewhere on your blog. I know you have some terrific examples available. Good luck with the blog.

Hi Elaine,
Just back from ‘Joyning the Learning’ with Mary - Rose. We both feel very motivated and enjoyed the course very much! Hope you hear of some really good practice in St Margaret’s soon and keep the ideas coming our way. Good luck with the ‘Titanic’.
Regards,
Micky.

Hi,
Has anyone got ideas for good F.A. comments for Maths? I’ve grown a little tired of writing well added, you’ve laid out your work well etc.

Your feedback should be tied into your success criteria. For example:
Learning intention -
we are learning to add tens and units to tens and units.
Success criteria-
* You have set out your sum correctly.
* You have added the units together first and then the tens.
* You can explain your workings to me.
Your feedback could be
You have set out your sums well which has helped you to add correctly.
or
Remember to add the units first before adding the tens.
or
Your adding is very careful and I can see you have gone over your work to check for mistakes.
Getting the children to generate the success criteria with you gives them a focus and sharing ideas with colleagues is also very helpful. If you would like further information please post another comment.

Thanks for the comments, but I’m just looking for a little more sparkle.
